Just like everyone, we are concerned as we see the cost of products and services rise. The effect of these rising costs are not discriminating. Furthermore, it’s becoming very clear that these price rises are wide spread and here to stay. This week we are going to look at how the economic environment is affecting the Home Brew Industry.
Home Brew Price Rises – how it started
In early 2020 it looked promising for the Home Brew industry. We saw a sharp rise in enquires as concerns around access to bottle shops grew. However, the Home Brewing industry (like many) did not come out unscathed in the 2 years that followed. The industry has battled through COVID restrictions and closures, extensive stock shortages, substantial increases in freight costs and a volatile consumer market.
We are now facing our next hurdle. The rising cost of products and services as a result of inflation, international cost pressures, freight costs and demand vs availability. I don’t believe it is all doom and gloom, however. Our industry is strong and eager to continue to grow. Moreover, there has never been a better time to be a brewer as commercial alcohol prices rise to an all time high.
Home Brew Shops – local small business
Most Home Brew shops are owned and operated by brewers just like you. They are not big corporations. They’re small business that were established to service a gap in the Home Brewing market. They contribute countless hours and take on large financial risks to add value to the industry and service their fellow brewers. The consequence of consumer costs remaining the same in this environment is that small businesses can not sustain absorbing continued price rises. If cost pressures result in business closure it will be consumers ultimately effected. In other words, competition within the industry currently allows the consumer to benefit from competitive pricing.
How Crafted Taste will support the industry and brewers as costs rise
We do not have a business without you, our customers. Crafted Taste is committed to sustaining price affordability and sharing with the community how Home Brewing offers substantial savings compared with commercial alcohol. The question remains, how will Crafted Taste support the industry and brewers as costs rise? Firstly, we have priced a large percentage of our products under the Recommended Retail Price. Our goal is to competitively price our products to ensure our customers are always getting a great deal. Secondly, we support and stock products from Australian Made and Owned businesses such as Morgan’s Brewing, Samuel Willard’s and Edward’s Essences. What is more, supporting local businesses aids in keeping costs down and supports local jobs.
In conclusion, the team at Crafted Taste would like to thank our loyal and valued customers. It is with your ongoing support that we have been able to continue to service the industry, despite so much uncertainty. We will continue to provide our community with knowledge and products at competitive prices.
