Gin has been making a steady climb up the ladder of favourites for many people. With a rise in new and exotic Gin flavours coming the market, we have also seen a rise in people wanting to recreate some of their commercial favourites. While you can’t go past a good London Dry, we set out to experiment with a range of different essences to see what creative flavours we could make. For our DIY Gin Flavours we will be focusing on utilising spirit essences with vodka, however, for those eager to experiment with Gin botanicals something is in the works and we will be sharing more information on this in the future!
Gin comes in many colours and flavours but regardless of the style of Gin it is always characterised by the flavour of juniper berries – that’s what makes Gin, Gin! To stay true to the nature of Gin, each of our recipes used Still Spirits Classic London Gin as a base. We mixed up one 1125mL bottle using one sachet of Still Spirits Classic London Gin and distributed it evenly across four smaller bottles – resulting in four bottles of approximately 280mL. DIY Gin Flavours Recipes
Peach Gin
Our Peach Gin has a beautiful sweet and fruity smell with subtle undertones of earthy botanicals. It has a subtle peach flavour with a hint of botanicals and smoothness to finish.
To achieve this flavour we mixed 3mL of Still Spirits Peach Vodka Sachet with 280mL of our premixed Classic London Base.
Blackberry Gin
Our Blackberry Gin has a well balanced, delicate aroma of fruit and juniper berry. Vibrant purple in colour with a prominent blackberry flavour which continues to a subtle botanical flavour to finish.
To achieve this flavour we mixed 10mL of Still Spirits Blackberry Schnapps with 280mL of our premixed Classic London Base. This flavour was the unanimously voted our favourite!
Raspberry Gin
Our Raspberry Gin has a rich raspberry aroma with subtle undertones of juniper berry. It has a notable raspberry flavour with a hint of juniper berry to finish.
We mixed 10mL of Still Spirits Raspberry Vodka Sachet with 280mL of our premixed Classic London Base. This blend would make a beautiful addition to a summery cocktail.
Strawberry Gin
Our Strawberry Gin has a sweet fruit aroma balanced with the tart aroma of juniper berry. Amber in colour with a prominent berry flavour which continues to a faint, refreshing botanical flavour to finish.
To achieve this flavour we mixed 10mL of Still Spirits Strawberry Schnapps with 280mL of our premixed Classic London Base.
